eyes wide open

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.
~Theodore Roosevelt

This is the only place to begin. Doing otherwise is fraught with frustration, complication and futility.

I’m certain T.R. had a different context and intention when he wrote these words, but they are no less true in this case. You are where you are. Pretending otherwise is foolhardy. Change is possible. In fact it is natural, the only constant according to Heraclitus. But you must approach it by accepting you as you are, things in your life, your situation, as they currently are…being bold and brave, looking at it all, looking at you, with your eyes wide open. Then choose where you want to go, what you want to create, what you’re ready to release…and begin!
